Chicago as a team have been keeping opponents runs down to a minimum and consistently so, as they have restricted opponents to 3 or less runs in 9 of 15 games. It means they have the 3rd best ERA in the AL, just 3.16. That matches up very well against the Athletics batters, who make up the worst offence in the AL. Yep, their 3.70 runs per game and .210 batting average are the worst numbers of any team in the AL. Told you the offences aren't equal!
The Oakland Athletics counter with Bartolo Colon, also a former Cy Young Award winner. He is 3-1 with a 2.63ERA, and has not given up a run in his last 15 innings of work! Against the Angels, he threw 8 innings without giving up a run, throwing 38 consecutive strikes at one stage of that match! It's impressive and he could do well tonight, but I just think his offence is going to let him down.
The White Sox come into this match having won 3 straight games, sweeping the Mariners in Seattle in a dominant series where they even saw the first perfect game in 2 years, thanks to Philip Humber. No chance they take it easy here as Chicago is a 0.5 games behind AL Central leaders Detroit.
