PREVIEW
The Boston Red Sox are 20-21 on the back of a winning road record, going 11-10 and enter this game off 2 wins over Philadelphia. I still don't think the Orioles should be underdogs at home though, especially with the Red Sox sending up a pitcher with a terrible ERA. What do I know? I went 0-3 yesterday!
The Red Sox send Clay Buchholz to the hill. He has a 4-2 record with a whopping 7.77ERA. His last start saw him give up just 2 earned runs though, although he still suffered a loss against Tampa Bay as he didn't pitch more than 5 innings. He has already faced Baltimore this season, giving up 5 runs in just under 4 innings in another game he lost. JJ Hardy hit 2 homers off him that day, so watch for that again tonight.
The Orioles are off a loss, and send Tommy Hunter to start things off. The right-handed hurler is 2-2 with a 4.78ERA. Hunter pitched against Buchholz but got the win despite giving up 5 runs in that game. He was sent down to the minors but since coming back he has looked much, much better. Against Kansas City he allowed 2 runs in 7 innings in his las start. While Hardy hit 2 off Buchholz, David Ortiz has hit 2 off Hunter, so that is another matchup to watch here.
Baltimore are 27-15 with a 12-9 home record. They have already swept Boston at Fenway Park, and twice this season in games that went past 9 innings. One of them went 17 innings! The Orioles have been hitting and scoring well coming into this, and that is what I really like, combined with home field advantage. The O's Adam Jones has now registered hits in 12 straight games and has gone deep in 4 of his last 6 games. They will be a danger throughout the game as they look to take todays opener.
BETTING VERDICT
Underdog price on Baltimore at home with the superior pitcher. Choice makes itself.
