PREVIEW
You know what always happens when Fulham travel up for a Premier League match against Everton? Everton wins. Yep, 10 straight times now Fulham have come back with nothing from this match, and I see no reason to bet against that outcome here.
Everton were bloody impressive in their last match, showing great fight and determination even when they were less than 10 minutes away from a sure loss. We can expect the same performance here.
Moyes is a great manager, and the way he gets his team to play football is worthy of respect. Everton know they blew it in the FA Cup semi-finals against Liverpool, crashing out despite having taken the lead. It's not the first time that has has happened either, with 2 big Spanish giants doing exactly the same this week. Everton did not feel disheartened, and their 4-4 draw with United, whom they trailed 4-2 shows what they can do.
There is nothing to play for, as far as these teams are concerned, except a better position in the final table, but for Everton this is motivation enough. If they they tackle this game and the final 2 well enough, they will finish above their despised rivals Liverpool.
Everton boast good form, winning 3 and draw 2 of their last 5 matches. Everton at home are tough cookies, winning 2 straight without conceding, and boasting 5 home wins in their last 6 at Goodison.
What is most encouraging though is the offence. Everton have been getting better and better, and you have to give praise to Nikica Jelavic, who now has 5 goals in 5 games). The Blues have 8 goals in their last 2 matches, and 14 in their last 5, nearly 3 per game. That is exactly how many they put past Fulham when they met at Craven Cottage earlier this season, picking up a 3-1 win.
Martin Jols' Fulham are unbeaten in 4 matches, and aren't bad themselves, recently pegging Chelsea back to a 1-1 draw at the Cottage before coming back from a deficit to beat resurgent Wigan 2-1. Prior to that there were 3-0 and 2-1 wins over Bolton and Norwich, respectively.
But it is important to note that this does not transfer well to an away game. The wins against Norwich and Wigan, along with the draw against Chelsea, all came at home in West London. Bolton were beaten away but then that is hardly a result worth breakdancing about, as the Wanderers are battling relegation. Fulham have picked up just 3 wins away from home all season, and their goalshyness, if that's a word, does not match up well here, where Everton so often keep their opponents from scoring.
BETTING VERDICT
Everton are great defensively, with only Manchester City conceding less at home than Evertons 14.
However, Fulham deserve some respect, so I will suggest you take Everton to win by exactly 1 goal as your risky bet, and for those of you that want to keep it safe, take Everton to win this.
