NORTH TEXAS (1-6)
North Texas come into this on the back of a 3 game losing streak which saw them go down 34-10 at home against Florida International 2 weeks ago.
The Mean Green haven't been quite so mean this season, going 1-6 so far. The problem lies in the QB position, which has not seen anyone settle in, thanks to injury. 3 different QBs are injured and North Texas now have Chase Blaine (I hate him already) throwing the ball for this one. He managed to complete only 13 of 28 passes last time out against FIU, and got sacked 4 times.
I reckon North Texas will try to avoid become the Hilltoppers second straight victims by handing the ball to RB Lance Dunbar, who is arguably the best player the Mean Green will have on the field. He has 3 touchdowns to his name and is averaging about 97 yards per game.
WESTERN KENTUCKY (1-6)
Wow, what a relief that was eh? Western Kentucky ended a run of 26 straight losses last week when they beat Louisiana 54-21.
Kawaun Jakes passed for a season high 262 yards last week, completing 18 of his 22 attempts. The Hilltoppers QB also ran in 2 touchdowns from the 1 yard line but the main man for this team, and indeed the one to watch here is RB Bobby Rainey.
Despite the fact all of you are probably only reading about this team because I'm writing about them, in Rainey they have the 11th best rusher in the country. Yes, way. 120 yards per game, 5 yards per carry, 9 touchdowns and he is about 160 yards short of hitting 1000 yards for the season. North Texas, can you say "gash"?
The Western Kentucky defence is allowing 37 points per game however, and the rush defence has been particularly bad, giving up 24 touchdowns in their 7 games. They will have to forget about last weeks big win and focus on stopping Dunbar match the scores put up by Rainey.
BETTING VERDICT
This wil probably turn into a high scoring match, but with the problems at QB for North Texas, and the monstrous runs by Rainey for Western Kentucky, I have to go with the home side, and the spread of 5.5 seems good to me, seeing as I see them winning by at least a touchdown.
The Pick :
Western Kentucky to win and cover
BEST BETTING TIP :
Western Kentucky to win @ 1.44 (Pinnacle)
