Chelsea obliged with our bet on Monday night to come from behind and beat Manchester City, putting an end to their unbeaten run. The Blues are on the road now against a much inferior Wigan side, and cannot afford to suffer a letdown, which would ruin their good recent work.

Wigan have 2 wins in their last 3 league games, but have not won at home for many months now, and were recently thumped by another London side, Arsenal, at this ground. A team that can ship 4 to Arsenal looks very much like being the type Chelsea could bang in a few against. Keep in mind, this is a Chelsea side that is in a positive trend at the moment, with form and results improving. Chelsea have reeled off 3-0 wins over Newcastle, Wolves and Valencia, and then pulled that big win last week against City.

I wonder whether Wigan will even score here, as Chelsea's recent defence has been very strong. Looking back to past results, Wigan have failed to score in 4 of the last 6 meetings, and have been seriously slapped about in the last 3 meetings, losing, on aggregate, 15-0!

Lampard seems to have this teams number, as does Drogba, both scoring a bunch in recent meetings. Chelsea have a chance to get within just 4 points of leaders Manchester City and once they do go ahead, I expect all hell to break loose as Wigan chase it and get hit on the break by a ruthless Chelsea attack. Lampard, Drogba, Mata, heck, even Torres, take your pick in the anytime scorer markets, as they could very well all get in on it.

BETTING VERDICT

The Chelsea win looks a cert to me, but I reckon it's better to take Chelsea -1.5 as it is paying well above evens.

Another great bet is Chelsea to score Over 2.5 goals as there is value in the big price, considering it looks a 50-50 shot to me.
