2011-12-17 - Hull City vs Millwall
A Sports Betting Pick by ArmchairPunter
Football – England – Championship
Saturday 17th December 2011 – Kickoff: 1500hrs
Hull City entertain Millwall on Saturday afternoon and will be looking to record a fourth successive league win over a Millwall side who tend not to travel too well.
Hull City
Hull have picked up their form in recent weeks with home wins over Leicester City and Birmingham City both 2-1 and an away win at joint bottom club Coventry City last weekend.
The Tigers’ home record stands at 4-0-4 9/10 and new manager Nick Barmby will be looking for greater consistency from his charges as they enter the pivotal Christmas and New Year period.
In attack, strikers Matty Fryatt (8 goals, 1 assist) and Aaron Mclean (4 goals, 2 assists) are forging an ever strengthening partnership up front, along with creative midfielder Robert Koren (6 goals, 3 assists), Tom Cairney (4 assists) and Liam Rosenior (3 assists) also supplying the front men.
Millwall
It’s just the one win in the last six for Kenny Jackett’s Millwall and they find themselves just two points above the relegation places. Their major cause for concern will be their away form which has yielded just the one away win all season to date which was a surprising 3-0 away win at Leicester City.
Apart from that solitary win though has been little to cheer about on the road as Millwall's current away record testifies; 1-3-5 7/13, with only Coventry City (5 goals) and Portsmouth (6 goals) scoring fewer on their travels.
The Lions are not without some dangerous players though with Darius Henderson (9 goals, 3 assists), midfielder Liam Trotter (5 goals, 4 assists) and Jay Simpson (4 goals, 2 assists) providing the bulk of their attacking damage.
However, Millwall have drawn a blank in their last three matches on the road with results as follows; 0-1 at Blackpool, 0-0 at Crystal Palace and 0-2 at Leeds United.
The Betting verdict :
There’s some good value on the home win here and that is what I’ll be picking for this fixture; as Hull City look to be building some good early momentum under the guidance of Nick Barmby.
I’ll back the Barmby Army for a straight fourth league win in this one – Hull to win 2-0.
The Pick :
Hull City 2-0 Millwall
