Everton are still 2 points ahead of Liverpool, and having been knocked out of a semi-final they were leading, will want to maintain that league position to try and finish above their rivals. Small consolation but it means a lot.

Everton have done well coming into this game. They have scored 4 goals in each of their last 2 matches, and in each of their last 3 Premier League matches( if you discount the Liverpool cup game). First they fought back to hold Manchester United to a thrilling 4-4 draw, before thumping Fulham 4-0 over the weekend. Previously there was a 4-0 win over Sunderland. Stoke City too did well, taking the lead against Arsenal before being pegged back to finish 1-1 but I am concerned by their lack of goals this season.

The public has a short memory, and the prices seem to suggest there is too much being read into the draw with Arsenal, as impressive as that is. The fact is, Stoke City have just 1 win in their last 8 Premier League matches, and that was a narrow 2-1 win here over Wolverhampton, the worst side in the league. hardly impressive.

Stoke are down in 14th, with not much motivation, but Everton are in top form now, having gone 6 games without defeat. That means they have the joint best current form, along with Chelsea. In Nikica Jelavic they have found their man, as he has now netted 2 goals in each of his last 3 matches! Compare that to Stoke, who have scored just 6 goals in their last 8 games combined! Jelavic will want to become the first player to score 2 or more in 4 straight games, while Stoke are still the lowest scoring team in the league with just 33 goals.

BETTING VERDICT

Other than Peter Crouch, who is there to seriously worry Everton, who have a fantastic defence? I think we've been offered a massive price with Everton, and as I see them scoring a few and winning I will try and get the best price on the AH.
