Analysis:

Aston Villa will be hoping that Everton slip up in their match for them to get into the UEFA Cup spot. But for that to happen, they first must get the win at Upton Park against West Ham United who are already safe and nothing left to play for this season.

Villa knows that Everton are the strong favourites to finish in fifth spot as they require just one point, but that will not stop Villa for going for maximum points here. For the visitors Olof Mellberg will make his final appearance in English football before he plays for Juventus next season in Serie A.

Villa’s only casualty is Craig Gardner with a thigh injury, otherwise he has an almost full lineup here. Also to feature for the last time in goal will be Scott Carson who is on loan from Liveprool. His future with Liverpool is still undecided though.

West Ham enters this match on a poor run of form knowing that they are safe for yet another season in the Premiership. Hammers boss Alan Curbishley will want to put up a good show here after there was debate about his position at Upton Park for the coming season.

Curbishley will be boosted with the return of Matthew Upson and Anton Ferdinand from injuries. Both are back in training and could return to the starting eleven today. However Dean Ashton is still doubtful for the home side fter he was forced to limp off with a hamstring injury in the defeat to Manchester United. Carlton Cole is on standby to step in if he fails to recover on time. The home side are still without the likes of Craig Bellamy, Kieron Dyer and Freddie Ljungberg who are out on long term injuries.

Take Aston Villa to win here but still lose out to Everton for the fifth spot.
