Analysis:

After an impressive win at the Stadio Olimpico with strikes from United’s Double R’S – Ronaldo and Rooney, United will once again start as favourites to progress to the semi-finals stage as they did last season.

However when you take into account that Manchester United have a very important clash coming up against Arsenal at the weekend as well as miss the services of defenders Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic for this clash then a different picture emerges.

United were shaky in their performance at the back in the 2-2 draw against Middlesbrough at the weekend and had to thank (as usual the double R’s) Ronaldo and Rooney who scored for them in the match to get a point.

United can even afford to draw this match having the safety of a 2-0 lead they managed at the Stadio Olimpico and it is unlikely they would go for a 7-1 repeat where they managed last season over A.S Roma.

The visitors are some four points away from Inter Milan as they are second place in the Italian Serie A and faces Udinese who are going for the UEFA Cup spot as well. AS Roma are quite blunt upfront, and United without Vidic and Ferdinand, you can expect to see Pique come into the side but don’t expect there to be a lot of goals here as United would be glad to settle for a draw here and rest players for the big clash with Arsenal to come.
