Champions League
2008-04-08 - Liverpool vs Arsenal
A Sports Betting Pick by Duncan
Liverpool face Arsenal for the third time in a week, this time at Anfield and not the Emirates Stadium.Champions League football, with a place in a semi final at stake. the sides ended the first leg of this tie 1-1. With Arsenal the side left most aggrieved following a good penalty claim in the second half and largely dominating the scond half of that game.
Liverpool having scored a crucial away goal last week take a slight edge into this game knowing a 0-0 draw will see them through. Rafa Benitez though has insisted that his side will look to score goals, but then again Arsene Wenger's side also need to score goals..... so we could be in for a very entertaining game or a vey cagey game. One ting Liverpool must do is improve their set piece defending - the zonal marking hasn't worked well, or more probably Arsenal have made he most of it.
Of the two teams Liverpool are probably the side in form, but then Arsenal who may not be at their peak haven't exactly lost many games during this period of mixed esults for them.
This is a very tough game and tie to call. Arsenal are no strangers to coming to Anfield and sneaking a very important result - the one that come to mind is the 2-0 win in 1989 which gave Arsenal the League Title - Arsenal will be wanting to turn back the clock for that one. While Liverpool have a chance to erase that memory a little with win here and qualifying for the semi final.
So on form - may be Liverpool to edge it, but you can't count this Arsenal side out. In 90 minutes we could see yet another 1-1 draw then we move into exra time........
The Pick :
Draw 1-1
