Chelsea knows that they must win this match against Bolton at Stamford Bridge and then hope that Wigan can do them a favour by holding Manchester United to at least a draw to have any hopes of winning the Premiership as they are behind on goal difference.

At the moment Bolton are virtually assured of staying in the Premiership as they are three points ahead of both Reading and Fulham as well as with a better goal difference. Only a very unlikely result from the other matches could see them get relegated here.

There are also fitness doubts over defender Ricardo Carvalho who is suffering from a back injury after the 2-0 win over Newcastle on Monday Night Football while upfront Salomon Kalou is also doubtful with an ankle injury. Both are expected to feature but if Carvalho fails a late fitness test then Alex who played for PSV Eindhoven in the past will start this match in his place.

For Bolton this match could be the last for a number of players whose contract would not be renewed next season. The likes of El-Hadji Diouf, Ivan Campo, Stelios Giannakopoulos, Ricardo Gardner and Andranik Teymourian will likely see action for the last time here.

Expect Chelsea to go on a goal scoring spree but still lose out to United as they finish level on points, but separated by goal difference.
