A Sports Betting Pick by Signals
Football: International, FIFA World Cup 2010
(AFC) Asian Qualifiers
Wednesday 1st April 2009 - Kickoff 10:00 (GMT)
The media here in Australia is predicting an attacking goalfest from the aussies, but having said that the media here has a history of sensatonalising everything in sport and while I personally don't think it will be as easy as that, i think Australia will win.
A win for Australia will virtually assure them a place in the world cup so they will be giving it everything to wrap it up quickly.
Last game out was in early March for Australia at an Asian cup qualification match where the Aussies lost to Kuwait at home 1-0, but that's virtually irrelevant as it was an entirely domestic team made up of locally based A-league players. Australia's best player ply their trade in Europe.
In terms of team news Australia is sweating on the availability of Marco Bresciano, Tim Cahill, Michael Beauchamp and Carl Valeri.
However the Players definately included are Harry Kewell, Lucas Neill, Scott Chipperfield, Mark Schwarzer, Scott Mcdonald and Josh Kennedy. I'm not sure but i would also imagine Vince Grella and Jason Cullina are in the team, along with a few others.
The Uzbekis are on the up with their first win of the campaign, a 4-0 win against Qatar on Saturday, which is much better than the 0-3 loss that Uzbekistan endured against the same opponents late last year, on both occassions home advantage was the key.
I'm not sure of the Uzbekistan team news but I think its been pretty much the same team throughout the qualifiers and one thing that is clear is that it lacks names from big european teams that Australia boasts.
Group Form and Head-to-Head
Australia's record in the WC qualifiers so far is 3-1-0 without a goal conceded, while Uzbekistan's is 1-1-3 and have let in 6 goals.
Australia won the reverse fixture 1-0 in Uzbekistan in September 2008.
The Betting Verdict
As I said earlier I think this is a game that Australia will win, and you can currently get that at $1.36 to $1.38.
Being at home and wary of Uzbekistan surprising with their confidence high, I think that Australia will look to come out strong in front of a home crowd and put paid to any hope for the Uzbeks and basically secure a finals spot.
Therefore the bet I will be placing is HT/FT double of Australia/ Australia @ $1.95.
