2009-04-01 - England vs Ukraine
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:England will want to carry on and produce the same good form when they beat Slovakia last weekend at Wembley. Now it is the turn of Ukraine to visit Wembley and England will want nothing less than a win.
Having won all four games in their group, Fabio Capello boys are enjoying a 100% record at the moment. But Capello has warned that Ukraine managed by Former Rangers player in Alexei Mikhailichenko will proved much tougher in this encounter. At the moment they are third in the group, being five points behind England. However they have a game in hand and should they get an unlikely win here then it would pose a big threat to England's qualifying hopes.
England are without three of their first choice players as Wes Brown and Joe Cole are long-term absentees, whilst Theo Walcott is also out injured. Their cause has not been helped by the fact that Carlton Cole, Emile Heskey and Darren Bent all had to pullout due to injuries last week.
So Peter Crouch will partner Wayne Rooney in attack for the first time under the guidance of Capello. Steven Gerrard will start on the left flank with Frank Lampard and Gareth Barry starting in central midfield.
David Beckham's impressive display could see him start this match yet again with Tottenham's Aaron Lennon also battling for the right lankf slot. Glen Johnson will start at right-back since Wes Brown is missing from the side. David James, Ashley Cole, fit-again Rio Ferdinand and captain John Terry are the others that makes up the defence.
Ukraine will have the duo of Andriy Shevchenko and Andriy Voronin upfront which most England's players are quite familiar by now. Former Chelsea star Shevchenko is now playing for Milan, but he is nowhere the deadly form he used to be. Voronin - on loan from Liverpool at Hertha Berlin is the reason why Hertha Berlin is top of the table now.
Meanwhile there are some resports suggesting that Voronin and Mikhailichenko have fallen out and if that is the case then Dynamo Kiev's highly-rated Artem Milevsky will get the nod to start this match instead. Bayern Munich-bound Anatoliy Tymoshuck will be the key figure in midfield, and this will give the chance for Sergei Nazarenko and Alexander Aliev to move forward. Their backline is quite inexperienced as centre-half Dimitri Chygrynskiyhas only 15 caps.
Take England to win this match.
Cheers and good luck,
