English Premier
2025-08-30 - Wolves vs Everton
A Sports Betting Preview by Auls
Football: English Premier League
Saturday 30th August 2025 - Kick Off 3pm
Wolves
Vitor Pereira will have been concerned with the poor start made to the Premier League season, but a League Cup win over West Ham United provides a boost in confidence. Jorgen Strand Larsen scored twice for Wolves in that Cup win and the club will be keen to keep the striker at Molineux with Newcastle United circling and already having multiple bids rejected.
The hope is that the Norwegian will be leading the line for Wolves as they bid to earn their first League points of the season. Only two Premier League clubs have lost both opening fixtures, but Wolves will have taken heart from the home victory over West Ham United on Tuesday.
Wolves have lost to both Manchester City and Bournemouth without scoring a Premier League goal so there is plenty of room for improvement. The side have not won any of their last 3 home Premier League games and Wolves have only taken a point from those matches.
Toti Gomes is back from a suspension, but Ki-Jana Hoever is considered a doubt.
Everton
David Moyes will be really pleased with the way Everton have opened things up at the Hill Dickinson Stadium and the manager is well aware how important home form will be to keep the club in the top flight. Progress has been made in the League Cup and there are plenty of positives around Everton Football Club and perhaps more to come if they can bring in some more new players ahead of the transfer window closing.
The Toffees are up into 8th place in the very early Premier League table and they are amongst a host of clubs that have followed away defeats with home wins. The opening weekend ended with Everton losing 1-0 at Leeds United, albeit controversially.
Everton have lost 1 of their last 7 games in all competitions and the victory over Mansfield Town on Wednesday means they have secured wins in 5 of the last 6. The side ended last season with 3 wins in 4 away Premier League fixtures, but Everton have suffered that early setback at Elland Road a couple of weeks ago.
The away team will be hoping that Vitalii Mykolenko is available for selection this weekend, but are still another couple of weeks away from being able to call upon Jarrad Branthwaite.
Head to Head
Everton took four points from Wolves in the Premier League last season.
The fixture at Molineux ended 1-1 and has extended Wolves' run to 4 unbeaten at home against Everton.
In those matches, Wolves have managed to earn the victory twice.
Prediction
There are always tough games to call in the Premier League from week to week and this one between Wolves and Everton fits the bill.
Vitor Pereira's team have not been very good through the opening two matches, but they have faced Manchester City and Bournemouth and the 3-2 win over West Ham United in the League Cup will give the team a lift.
The manager will know that his team need to show a bit more in the final third if they are going to start pushing back up the standings.
Keeping Jorgen Strand Larsen feels hugely important if Wolves are going to have the qualities to avoid the drop. Newcastle United have had a couple of bids rejected, but it feels like they will come back to Wolves at least once more and that does raise some doubts about the Norwegian's availability this weekend.
If Wolves do manage to keep Strand Larsen, they will certainly feel they can threaten an Everton team that have allowed the first two opponents to create some quality chances against them.
Leeds United were able to eventually take one of those in a home win over Everton, while David Moyes will recognise that a wasteful Brighton team certainly helped his team last Sunday.
Jack Grealish was influential in the win over Brighton and he can cause problems for Wolves, but Everton have not won any of their last 4 visits to Molineux.
The first goal does feel important on Saturday afternoon and it will be tough for the team falling behind to get back into the contest. A 1-1 scoreline cannot be dismissed completely with that being the outcome of 2 of the last 3 between Wolves and Everton in the Midlands, but the former have put plenty of wins on the board against this opponent in recent seasons.
Backing the draw could be the best play, but home advantage may tip the scales narrowly in favour of Wolves.
With that in mind, backing Wolves on the Asian Handicap or 'Draw No Bet' markets may be the best approach to take, although the recommendation would be to limit stakes in a match that may be decided by the finest of fine edges.
