You can make the case for a number of clubs as being the most impressive in the early days of the Premier League, but arguably Tottenham Hotspur would deserve the highest praise. Thomas Frank has seemingly already stamped his authority on a squad that struggled defensively for much of last season and a perfect start to the campaign has included a strong, deserved win at Manchester City.
Plenty of tests are still to come before Thomas Frank can truly be lauded, but his Tottenham Hotspur team are 2nd in the early Premier League standings and have kept consecutive clean sheets. Another home win on Saturday may put them in a strong position to secure top spot in the standings through the September international break, especially as the other two clubs with 100% records are facing one another on Sunday.
Tottenham Hotspur were minutes away from beating European Champions Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup, but have not allowed that ultimate defeat on Penalties to affect the preparation for the season. Wins over Burnley at home and Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium have raised expectations.
Thomas Frank clearly has laid his rules out for the squad and Yves Bissouma has fallen foul of those and could be sold before the deadline. Destiny Udogie could be involved this weekend, while a number of other players remain on the sidelines.
Bournemouth
There has not been a lot of investment in the Bournemouth squad, despite some big players leaving the club, and that might be frustrating Andoni Iraola. Even then, the manager has shown he can get plenty out of the players that remain at the Vitality Stadium and Bournemouth have impressed in their Premier League performances.
The three points against Wolves will have felt important after losing at Anfield in the opening fixture, but Bournemouth have been dumped out of the League Cup by Brentford. A Cup run would have been appreciated by all associated with the club, although Bournemouth's bread and butter remains the League and avoiding slipping out of the Division.
Bournemouth have won 2 and lost 4 of their last 6 games played in all competitions going back to last season. The Cherries have won 1 of their last 7 away Premier League games and Bournemouth have suffered defeats either side of the off-season at Anfield and the Etihad Stadium.
Julian Araujo is going to serve a suspension having been sent off on Tuesday, but Justin Kluivert is back in action. Lewis Cook is also expected to miss out.
Head to Head
Bournemouth took four points from Tottenham Hotspur last season, but might have expected more when leading 0-2 in this Stadium before being pegged back in a 2-2 draw.
Tottenham Hotspur had won 6 of 7 at home against Bournemouth before that draw in March.
Prediction
An early impact has been made by Thomas Frank with this Tottenham Hotspur squad and even the list of injuries and potential signings deciding to opt to go to other clubs has not dimmed the hopes and dreams of the fans.
There has been a lot to like about the performances against Burnley and Manchester City, but Frank is experienced in the Premier League and will be reminding his players of the hard work it takes to win matches each and every week.
This is going to be another test for Tottenham Hotspur against a Bournemouth team that have played well in the first two League games. Andoni Iraola knows it is a work in progress defensively with a number of new faces to bed in, but a clean sheet against Wolves will help give the entire team confidence and Bournemouth still bring a real threat in the final third.
Last season they should have won here when leading 0-2 and dominating Tottenham Hotspur, but Thomas Frank's Brentford got the better of Andoni Iraola's Bournemouth twice in the top flight last season.
There is no doubting that the manager has made an important impact already and Tottenham Hotspur have been pretty good at both ends of the field early in this season.
Another clean sheet might not be forthcoming, but Spurs are capable of winning an entertaining fixture and can score at least twice on the way to keeping the perfect record alive through the international break.
