Analysis:

Manchester City aims to seal their fourth spot entering this match and extend Tottenham's poor run entering this match. City will have memories where last season they were so close to securing UEFA Champions League football last season, only to lose at home to Tottenham and missed out on qualification.

And at one stage, it seems that it could repeat from last season with Roberto Mancini's side having found themselves in direct competition with Tottenham once more. Manchester City can make sure they will be the ones to qualify for the Champions League with a win in this match.

However, Manchester City does have a poor record against Tottenham entering into this clash. They have won just one of their last 15 Premier League meetings with Redknapp's side whereby they collected just six points from a possible 45 during that run.

Manchester City also fired blanks in their last three games against Tottenham. Harry Redknapp's side is not in the best of form, but will be glad that those statistics in the past are in his favour. But Tottenham have performed poorly of late and have won just once in their last nine top flight games and Liverpool's crushing 5-2 victory over Fulham on Monday saw them slip into sixth place.

Therefore it is vital that Tottenham stop their slump in this match. But most of all, and they will be hoping to build on a record which has seen them lose only two of their 13 away games at City during the Premier League era.

The visitors will also take heart from the fact that will also take heart from the fact that in Jermain Defoe they have a striker in fine goalscoring form, with the England international having netted four times in his last five starts.

As for the team news ahead of the match, Mancini will decide late if he is to include Carloz Tevez in the side. The South American was absent for the fourth game since injuring his hamstring at Liverpool when he missed Saturday's defeat at Everton, but Mancini wants Tevez to prove his fitness ahead of the game with Stoke in the FA Cup and could feature at some point of time.

Gareth Barry is expected to be available after recovering from a minor problem.

Meanwhile, Tottenham will be without several key players for a must-win clash at Eastlands. Gareth Bale (ankle), Benoit Assou-Ekotto (hamstring) and Tom Huddlestone (ankle) are out while there are doubts over Peter Crouch (back) and Luka Modric (hip).

Steven Pienaar could miss out with an ankle problem and Jonathan Woodgate (calf), Ledley King (groin), Wilson Palacios and Alan Hutton (both knee) are all out of the side.

Jermaine Jenas is unlikely to be in the side too after suffering a thigh injury following Saturday's 1-1 draw against Blackpool.

Take Manchester City to win.

Cheers and good luck,
