PREVIEW
Manchester City will contest their 3rd Champions League game at home, well aware by now of what can happen in Europe. After being stunned in their first match by Napoli, they regrouped to get a draw, before being outclassed in Germany by Bayern Munich. Tevez has been a headache for Mancini and the way he wants his team to go about dealing with the heavier schedule this year, but they're doing things about as well as they can, and it shows.
As things stand, Manchester City sit top of the Premier League, above Manchester United, who have been nothing short of breathtaking themselves. City banged in 4 goals on the weekend to go top, in the process equalling Arsenal's record 27 goal total after 8 games. They're doing all this without Tevez, as there is plenty of talent all over the pitch for them, not just in attack.
Balotelli is set to miss this one through suspension, but Silva will play, Top scorer Aguero is also set to return, having sat out the weekend game to rest his groin. City boast amazing form at home, having won 9 straight domestically.
Villarreal coach Juan Carlos Garrido is correct when he says his team should not be taken lightly as his side have played many times in the Champions League, while City are rookies. However, his side are in abysmal form at the moment, having won just 1 of their 7 La Liga matches this season. Their actual run in all competitions reads 2 wins from their last 15, hardly encouraging. Both their Champions League games so far have been 2-0 losses, to Napoli and Bayern Munich, and now they travel to City, who own teams on their own pitch, and are desperate for a win to catch up with the Italians and Germans.
While Manchester City were banging in 4 goals against a previously unbeaten Aston Villa, Villareal limped to a 0-0 draw at Getafe. They just look wiped of all confidence and I can see Manchester City setting up to pounce on them early and pressurising until their get the goal that will signal the start of some spankage.
BETTING VERDICT
I've got to go with Manchester City to win here on the AH. For a very safe bet, take them giving up just 1 goal which returns 1.50. I'm going to side with them to win by at least as many as Napoli and Bayern managed.
