Saturday 23rd February - Kickoff 3:00pm
Queens Park Rangers
Queens Park Rangers last played on the 9th February in a thumping 4-1 away loss at Swansea. The side is in last place some 7 points off safety and they really need to start winning games.
Redknapp's side were 5 unbeaten drawing 4 straight before the Swansea mauling. Unfortunately draws won't be enough now until May and they need to start winning games, especially at home.
At home QPR has drawn the last 3 all 0-0. Before this strange sequence of results for 3 straight home games the matches had over 2.50 goals. The manager has shored up the defence but there is a lack of quality up top to score some goals.
Including the 0-3 loss to Liverpool, it's 4 straight home games without a QPR goal going back to 2012! Defensively the clean sheets are a bonus especially when Tottenham and Manchester City were 2 of the visitors here.
Manchester United
Manchester United saw off Reading on Monday night in their FA Cup 5th round tie. Attention is back to the league now as the Red Devils look to build on their massive 12 point lead at the top of the Premiership.
Ferguson's side have won the last 3 league games and 7 of 8 to open up this huge lead at the top of the table. The title is very much theirs to lose and I don't see them relinquishing first place as they did last season.
Away from home it's 2 wins from the last 3 and they are unbeaten in 6, losing once in 12. Having rotated his squad on Monday I expect Rooney and RVP to start as United won't allow themselves to drop points regardless of their lead.
Interestingly the last 6 away defeats for United have been to nil. The team doesn't do 0-0's so if you can keep them out you have a great chance of beating them. However, 14 goals in 6 at over 2 a game suggests United will score and that's a bad omen for Rangers.
Betting Verdict
Manchester United are very short to win this game at QPR. If Rangers can keep up their clean sheet run going then they have a decent chance of an upset given United lose to nil (when they do lose on the road).
United are playing games frequently with FA Cup and Champions League commitments. However, Ferguson has shuffled his pack well and should get his stars back for this one.
QPR +1.25 goals is my bet here as I think they draw this one or lose narrowly. Redknapp's side has had plenty of time to prepare for this game, they are at home and United don't "need" the points.
Out of the last 6 United away wins, only 1 has been by more than a goal which makes a margin of 1 or 2 interesting. However, I seriously believe the hosts could cause a shock given they have held City and Spurs in the not too distant past.
United may well win but with less rest, less preparation time and being away from home. I'm happy to take a head start for Rangers.
Good Luck
