Cagliari (11th W11 D10 L14)
With 43 points to their names, Cagliari already achieved their objective for the campaign (to avoid relegation) which seems to have slowed them down a bit since there’s no motivation left.
Cagliari is coming into this match after a dull encounter with Chievo in a Satuday match that ended with a goalless draw that suited both sides.
The Sardinians will now receive Parma’s visit, another side that has no worries for the end of the season, so we shouldn’t expect anything special form this game.
Cagliari will be without Cabrera, Cossu and Pisano who are all recovering from injuries, while Pinilla will have to serve a two match ban.
Parma (10th W11 D10 L14)
Parma climbed to the upper half of the table (10th) following their 2-0 win over Atalanta at the Stadio Ennio Tardini on Sunday.
Everyone expected a typical end of season draw, including the bookmakers, but Marco Parolo at the end of the first half and Jonathan Biabiany in the second did not agree, scoring Parma’s victory goals.
Parma ended a four games winless run, they actually failed to score in each of those games, so this victory couldn’t come any better. It boosted Parma’s confidence and their chances for a top 10 finish.
Defender Alessandro Lucarelli is serving a one match ban which means he won’t make the trip to Trieste, but coach Donadoni has no other important absences to worry about.
The Betting Verdict
Parma have not won an away match in Serie A since a 2-1 victory over Bologna back in December, they’ve actually failed to score in five of their last six games on the road.
I can’t see them ending that winless run now, even though Cagliari is coming into this match on the back of three consecutive games without a win, having lost to Udinese on their previous home game.
This can be considered a match played on neutral ground, Cagliari will have to travel to Trieste to host this game on a stadium where the poor condition of the pitch may affect the quality of this game.
With not much motivation left for any of the sides and the poor quality of the pitch, I’d say that there are no premises to see a high scoring affair, so unders should be a safe bet here.
