Analysis:Leaders Inter Milan will faces a tough test as they travel to the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia to face Atalanta who are currently unbeaten in their last two matches. Inter Milan’s lead at the top has been cut to just one point after A.S Roma managed to beat Genoa in a tense 3-2 thriller.
The leaders since going out to Liverpool in the Champions League have yet to play their best and have been beaten by Juventus and managed two draws along the way. Their confidence is not where it used to be and it is up to Roberto Mancini to get them back when they used to keep winning matches after matches.
Inter Milan were lucky to escape with a draw against Lazio back in week 31 despite being outclassed in that match. They kept their lead at the top thanks largely to Cagliari who held Roma to a 1-1 draw in the same week.
As for the home side Atalanta they beaten A.C Milan 2-1 in the San Siro and would now want to take out city rivals Inter Milan. After playing some of their best football in beating Milan, they will want to show that result was no fluke.
When both sides met at this venue last season nothing could separate them as it ended in a 1-1 stalemate. Atalanta will be enjoying 100% home crowd support here as the Inter fans have been banned for this trip due to security reasons.
Atalanta will not have the services of Moris Carrozzieri is suspended for the Orobici and Leonardo Talamonti as he is nursing an injury which means that the likes of v will be coming into the starting eleven. Ferreira Pinto the scorer against Inter last season will start this match and hope to repeat his goalscoring act. Their attack will see the likes of Cristiano Doni playing just behind Sergio Floccari.
As for Roberto Mancini’s side, they are without the likes of Walter Samuel, Ivan Cordoba and Cristian Chivu who are out on a long term basis. Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is likely to be rested here as he has an injury to his left knee. Mancini will have the likes of Nelson Rivas to partner Marco Materazzi in the heart of defence.
Estaban Cambiasso is back for selection but he is likely to settle for a place on the bench as he will not dislodge Dejan Stankovic in the starting eleven. Luis Figo and Luis Jimenez will hope to feature in this match while Hernan Crespo and Julio Cruz will make up the attack here. David Suazo will be warming the bench.
Inter will aim to get the win here and go back four points above Roma after the club from the capital of Rome managed to win.
Cheers and good luck,
