Analysis:Both sides have nothing to fight for this season so they are just playing for pride now. Lazio apart from doing well against Inter Milan in the Coppa Italia, the last time they showed great form was against A.S Roma in the Rome derby. Other than that they have failed miserably this season after managing a Champions League spot last season. Palermo on the other hand have lost their last two games and are also out of the running for a UEFA Cup spot so their Coach Stefano Colantuono is urging them to play for their future as well as his at the club now.
Lazio have failed to record a single win last month and in their last match were beaten by Juventus 5-2. At one point they were 4-0 down at halftime before managing to pull back two goals. Their problems with red cards were evident as Sebastiano Siviglia was dismissed in that match shortly after scoring a goal for their side. He will miss this clash when they take on Palermo this weekend. Ousmane Dabo is another casualty so he will miss out once again. But the good news is that Luciano Zauri returns after serving his suspension coming in for Siviglia in defence. Daniel Radu will in turn move to left back while Argentine ace Cristian Ledesma will return to the side taking over from Roberto Baronio. Stefano Mauri will provide cover for the attacking duo of Goran Pandev and Rolando Bianchi as Tommaso Rocchi is out injured still.
Palermo could only managed a draw against Stefano Colantuono former side Atalanta last weekend. Palermo was missing several stars in that draw who were serving suspensions. They were at a loss upfront as they were also without star striker Amuri who will be back for Sunday’s clash. Perhaps it is his best chance to shine for the club as it is almost certain he will not be at the club next season. Amauri will return to the side to replace Edison Cavani who has scored just five goals this season. Mark Bresciano and Leandro Rinaudo are also returning from suspensions but Bresciano will warm the bench for this match. Rinaudo on the other hand will replace Cristian Zaccardo who is suspended for this tie. Another player hoping to start this match will be Giulio Migliaccio and he is set to replace Giovanni Tedesco in midfield.
In the past Palermo have usually held the upperhand when they have met since gaining promotion in 2005. They have managed three wins while Lazio have managed two wins. But it must be said that Lazio will want to get the better of Palermo as they have won the last two meetings between these two sides. Their earlier meeting this season saw Lazio managed a 2-2 draw after they were 2-0 down at one stage. Last season Lazio managed to beat Palermo 3-2 at the Stadio Barbera. However, Palermo won when they met at the Stadio Olimpico 2-1 so Lazio will be eager for some revenge when these two sides meet again this Sunday.
