Another miserable season is about to end for Wolfsburg. Like last year, they are finishing in the bottom half of the table, very close to the relegation zone.
There was nothing positive about Wolfsburg recently. They lost six of their last seven Bundesliga matches, being clearly outplayed in all those defeats.
Interestingly, Wolfsburg sacked their head coach, Ralph Hasenhüttl, just two rounds before the end of this season after the team’s beyond-dismal performance in the 4-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund last week. They will improvise and rely on an internal solution for the final two games before starting their search for a new coach for next season.
Wolfsburg is also one of the worst home teams in the Bundesliga, having won only three of their 16 games this season. They are winless in six before this match, and have lost each of their last three.
TSG Hoffenheim
TSG Hoffenheim is right above the relegation zone, five points above Heidenheim. They need only one point to theoretically secure their Bundesliga status for next season. Considering that Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich are their final two opponents, I believe they have bigger chances here.
TSG Hoffenheim has suffered four defeats in their last six games, so they are not in good shape. Last week, they played a bombastic game against Borussia Mönchengladbach, which ended in a 4-4 draw. That was their third straight game in which they conceded 3+ goals.
TSG Hoffenheim also failed to win any of their last four away games, losing three and drawing once.
The Betting Verdict
Wolfsburg faced TSG Hoffenheim twice this season, in the Bundesliga and the DFB Cup, beating them in both duels without conceding.
However, Wolfsburg is now in much worse shape than five months ago. They have a losing mentality and are without a head coach, so the final two Bundesliga games are pure formality for them.
TSG Hoffenheim will likely avoid finishing among the bottom three, but they need one more point to be perfectly safe. I would go with a double chance bet on them to remain unbeaten on this trip.
