2026-06-13 - Qatar vs Switzerland
A Sports Betting Pick by Niko
Football; FIFA World Cup 2026: Group B
Levi’s Stadium – San Francisco, USA
Saturday, 13th June 2026 - kickoff 15:00 EST
Qatar
Qatar arrive at this World Cup in a much stronger position than they did four years ago.
After losing all three matches as hosts in 2022, they responded by successfully defending their Asian Cup crown and qualifying for this tournament on merit.
Under Julen Lopetegui, Al Annabi have become a more organised side, with Akram Afif continuing to be their standout attacking player after his MVP-winning performances at the Asian Cup.
The challenge is obvious. Qatar are the lowest-ranked side in Group B and remain outsiders to progress. Their best chance is to stay compact, frustrate opponents, and look for moments of quality from Afif and Almoez Ali.
Interestingly, their only previous meeting with Switzerland ended in a surprise 1-0 win for Qatar in a 2018 friendly.
Switzerland
Switzerland enters the tournament as clear favourites to win Group B and one of the most reliable teams outside football's traditional elite.
Murat Yakin's side arrived in North America after an unbeaten qualifying campaign and a strong Euro 2024 run that included victory over Italy before a narrow quarterfinal defeat to England.
Led by Granit Xhaka, Manuel Akanji, and Gregor Kobel, the Swiss combine tournament experience with defensive stability. They conceded just two goals during qualification and are widely expected to challenge for top spot in the group.
The only concern surrounds striker Breel Embolo, whose travel situation has been under review ahead of the tournament, although Switzerland still possesses enough depth to cope if required.
The Betting Verdict
This is one of the more one-sided fixtures of the opening round.
Switzerland are shorter in the betting than almost any other team in the group stage and for good reason. They have the stronger squad, greater tournament pedigree, and a defense that rarely gives opponents many opportunities.
Qatar have improved since 2022 and should be competitive, but creating chances against Switzerland is another matter. The Swiss look well-equipped to control the game without taking unnecessary risks, which makes a relatively low-scoring victory appealing from a betting perspective.
Just Swiss to win is very short on odds, but they should still do it. I really don’t see many goals here, considering the venue, heat, and other factors, so a combination bet makes most sense to me.
My betting recommendation here is a combo bet of Switzerland to win & Under 3.5 Goals.
The Pick :
