NFL betting fans saw one of the bigger upsets of the year when the Oakland Raiders knocked off the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday but they have little chance of pulling off a similar upset on Thursday night as they face the Dallas Cowboys.
The Raiders caught a huge break on Sunday night as they rallied from behind to beat the Bengals. Down seven in the fourth quarter, quarterback Bruce Gradkowski led the Raiders on a game-tying drive. On the ensuing kickoff, Bengals returner Andre Caldwell fumbled and the Raiders recovered the ball in field goal range.
Sports betting cappers know that while the Raiders caught a huge break on Sunday, they probably won’t have the same luck on Thursday.
The Cowboys are the top team in the NFC East and have been playing that way through November. More importantly, it’s not December – the dreaded month where Tony Romo struggles – which means the Cowboys should have an easy time with a Raiders squad that has a tendency to mail it in.
After struggling against the Green Bay Packers, the Cowboys offense again labored against the Washington Redskins. They only scored seven points but the key stat that came out of that performance was the fact that they got their running game going.
The Cowboys top two backs, Marion Barber and Felix Jones, combined for 148 yards on 30 carries, which paved the way for a win.
This week, the Cowboys faceoff against one of the worst rushing defenses in the NFL. The Raiders allow 157.7 rushing yards per game and allow a 4.4 yards per carry average. They have also given up 16 rushing touchdowns – most in the NFL – and have allowed 12 rushing plays of 20 yards or longer, which is the third most in the league.
The Raiders win last week was more of the Bengals letting one slip away than the Raiders looking impressive. The Bengals had a 14-point lead and just took their foot off the gas and let the Raiders back in it. This week, the Cowboys will be far more aware of that type of a letdown, which means there is little chance for the Raiders to pull off the upset.
Look for the Raiders to go back to their sloppy ways, turn it over a few times and get blown out.
