Spanish La Liga

2010-02-22 - Valencia vs Getafe

A Sports Betting Pick by Pantocrator

Valencia v Getafe
Football: Spain : La Liga BBVA
Monday, 22nd February 2010. Kickoff 21:00

Valencia

Valencia is struggling hard for consistency lately as their results go from good to bad in a matter of a week. In the previous La Liga round Los Che were held to a 1-1 draw in Gigon by Sporting. Mata equalized for the visitors on the 76th minute.

Later on into the week Valencia traveled to cold unfriendly Belgium to meet Club Brugge in the first leg of Europa League 1/16 finals stage. The encounter turned into a real disaster for the Spaniards as they had not only lost 0-1, but also suffered a major blow after left back Jeremy Mathieu got badly injured.

This means Emery can’t count on either of his regular side defenders as right back Bruno has been also sidelined recently. The return fixture against Brugge is just days away, so the circumstances could not be tougher for injury plagued Valencia.

Expected formation and line up :
Valencia (4-2-3-1)
Cesar
Miguel,Dealbert,Marchena,Alexis
Banega,Albelda
P.Hernandez,Silva,Mata
Villa

Getafe

Getafe is not giving up hope on a finish within the European zone. The club from downtown Madrid is currently 8th in La Liga rankings. Just as their today’s opponents the team can’t get into a rhythm, victories keep alternating with draws and defeats.

Some two weeks ago Getafe suffered a memorable 1-2 loss to Barcelona at Camp Nou. The match, which came at a heavy price for the Catalan club as two of their defenders were dismissed.

In the previous round Getafe had to settle for a 2-2 home draw vs. Almeria. Visitors hit a late equalizer in stoppage time to deny earlier goals from veteran Caquero and Soldado. The latter is suspended for the match against Valencia and, of course, will be heavily missed.

Talented Uruguayan attacking midfielder Juan Albin should get the chance to re-establish himself in the first 11. Former Valencia winger Gavilan is another notable player on the injury list for Getafe.

Expected formation and line up :
Getafe (4-2-3-1)
Codina
M.Torres,Cata Diaz,Rafa,Mane
Celectini,Casquero
Pedro Leon,Parejo,Albin
Manu del Moral

Betting advice

I expect Valencia to feel the strain of the tough schedule on Monday evening.

Although Getafe is seriously weakened by the absence of their top scorer Soldado, they still have some quality up front with Pedro Leon and Parejo.

Moreover last 4 fixtures between this teams had over 2.5 goals scored. Don't see the trend changing here.
