A Sports Betting Pick by Stephen

Hearts v Hamilton
Football: Scottish Premier League
Saturday 26th September 2009 - Kick Off 3pm

HEARTS (9th) Home W1 D0 L1

It hasnt been the best of starts for Hearts in this seasons SPL. They have managed just 1 win in 5 games and have only 4 points so far. Hearts would have been one of the favourites for third spot along with Hibs and Dundee United at the start of the season but will need to find better than what they have showed so far.

Late goals have been the scourge of Hearts so far this season. They conceded late at Celtic last week in a 2-1 defeat and also at home to Rangers a few weeks earlier in another 2-1 defeat, Hearts had also led in both games. They were also leading 2-1 in the dying moments at St Johnstone when the newly promoted side equalised right on full time.

Csaba Laszlo's job has not been made any easier with the controversy surrounding star player Laryea Kingston. The Ghana internationl played for his country while supposedly injured and claimed his club is not as important his country. He has been fined 4 weeks wages and is not clear whether he will feature again.

But Hearts still have the players to challenge for third spot where they finished last season and games like this their fans will most certainly be expecting them to win. Hearts will be hoping the trio of Andrew Driver, Gary Glen and Lee Wallace will be fit after picking up knocks in the League Cup win over Dunfermlline in midweek.

Eggert Jonnson and Calum Elliot are expected to miss out after recovering from surgery.

HEARTS LAST 5 MATCHES
Hearts 2-1 Dunfermline ( League Cup)
Celtic 2-1 Hearts
Hearts 1-0 Kilmarnock
St Johnstone 2-2 Hearts
Hearts 2-0 Dinamo Zagreb ( Europa League )

HAMILTON (10th) Away W0 D0 L2

Hamilton survived their first season in the SPL last season after being favourites for the drop and full credit must go to Billy Reid and his squad.

After starting with 2 great wins they went on a terrible run and were rock bottom and looking to be heading back to the First Division. But a terrific run in December and Januray saw them get 6 wins from 7 and conceded only 1 goal in that time.

While their form dipped again it was enough to ensure their safety and the Accies eventually finished 4 points clear of bottom side Inverness Caley Thistle.

But Billy Reid's side will have to go through this season without their star man James McCarthy who has moved south to Wigan in the Premiership. McCarthy had been a sensation for Hamilton and had made his full debut a day before his 16th birthday in 2007.

And it hasnt been the best of starts for Hamilton who have managed just 1 win in 5 and were soundly beaten in their 2 away games so far and last weeks point at home to Falkirk was shrouded in controversy as Falkirk appeared to have a perfectly good goal disallowed.

Hamilton will have to do without the services of Striker Derek Lyle who suffered ligament damage last week and will probably miss the rest of the season.

HAMILTON LAST 5 GAMES
Hamilton 0-0 Falkirk
Hamilton 2-0 Hibernian
Rangers 4-1 Hamilton
Hamilton 0-3 Aberdeen
Kilmarnock 3-0 Hamilton

HEAD TO HEAD

2008/09 Season
Hamilton 1-2 Hearts
Hearts 1-0 Hamilton
Hamilton 2-0 Hearts

THE BETTING VERDICT

I can definitely see a HEARTS WIN here. They need the points after an indifferent start and most certainly are a far better side on their day than their opponents.

Also consider HEARTS HT/FT as a good alternative
