We should have a classic between the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings.

Legendary quarterback Brett Favre returns to his old stomping ground to take on his former team for a second time this year. It will be interesting to see how the Lambeau Field faithful take to him as he has jerked their chain over the last couple of years.

While Favre will be the main story, the undercard will be the fact that Packers and Vikings will essentially be playing for first place in the NFC North. People making their NFL predictions had a feeling that the Vikings would be good this year but not many thought that the Packers could be neck-in-neck with them.

The Vikings lost last week to the Pittsburgh Steelers and that has opened the door for the Packers to walk through it. If the Packers can get the win and split the season series, they’ll be able to stick around in the division race. If they lose and fall behind by two games in the standings and lose the tiebreaker, they’ll have a tough time winning this division.

If the Packers want any shot at winning this game, they better figure out a way to protect Aaron Rodgers. The Packers quarterback was sacked eight times in the first meeting between these times and 4.5 of those sacks came from Jared Allen.

Protection has been an issue for the Packers all season and they won’t beat elite teams like the Vikings until that improves.

For Minnesota, this game will be litmus test. On the whole, they are 6-1 on the year but keep in mind that a number of those wins were extremely tight.

The Vikings miracle wins over the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens, which means they could currently be at 4-3 instead of where they are now.

The Vikings are playing their second of back-to-back road games, which should play a factor this week.

They are an indoors team that is now playing a second consecutive outdoors game on the road. On top of that, the Packers are hungry for revenge.
