2010-02-20 - Arsenal vs Sunderland
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:After going down 2-1 to Porto in the Champions League in midweek, Arsenal will want to get back to winning ways when they welcome Sunderland to the Emirates stadium.
Goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski will want to forget the midweek incident as he was at fault for the two goals conceded. However, Arsene Wenger's side still have a good chance of making the quarter-finals of Europe's elite competition and will put their thoughts on getting the win here against Sunderland in the meantime.
Arsenal beat Liverpool on their last domestic outing in the league, but had previously lost successive games against Chelsea and Manchester United. Don't discount them out of the title race yet as they are now only six points behind league leaders Chelsea and still in with a shout.
Interestingly, Sunderland have not won in the league since they beat Arsenal back in November. So, the Gunners will fancy their chances of all three points here.
The Black Cats currently lie just three points above the relegation zone after a good start to their campaign. Bent has urged his team mates to repeat what they did to Arsenal at the Stadium of Light but it will take a brave men to go against them here.
Their cause has not been helped as they could miss up to six midfielders as they bid to end their run of 12 Premier League games without a win.
Jordan Henderson (ankle), Andy Reid (hamstring), Lee Cattermole and David Meyler (both suspended) are all certain to miss the clash, with Steed Malbranque (chest) unlikely to feature as well. Fellow midfielder Kieran Richardson (calf) has resumed training but faces a race against time to be fit, with defenders Anton Ferdinand (ankle) and John Mensah (hamstring) rated doubtful.
Striker Fraizer Campbell should start on the bench after shaking off a hamstring problem.
As for Arsenal, Manuel Almunia is rated as 50/50 to return for this clash. If he recovers in time then Fabianski could again find himself warming the bench after his blunders in midweek. Alex Song could be back after missing the Champions League fixture but midfielder Abou Diaby has picked up a knee ligament problem and is out of this clash.
William Gallas (calf), Andrey Arshavin and Eduardo (both hamstring) are still out.
