2010-02-20 - Everton vs Manchester United
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Early Premiership kickoff sees Manchester United going to Goodison Park aiming to get the win here and go top temporarily before Chelsea plays against Wolves.
The highlight of this match no doubt will be the return of striker Wayne Rooney to the club he was once with previously. Rooney is the man in form after scoring two goals in midweek against A.C Milan and helped United to a 3-2 win in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League last-16 tie and will be focused on defeating David Moyes' men.
Rooney is in such fantastic form having scored 13 goals in his last 14 games since failing to score against Everton in the reverse fixture in November.
Manchester United must not take Everton for granted as Everton have already beaten leaders Chelsea 2-1 at home this season and also securing a hard-fought draw against Arsenal at the Emirates last month.
But according to the record books, Manchester United have beaten Everton 13 times at Goodison Park since the beginning of the Premier League which is more than any other team in the competition's history.
Everton though would go to the Europa League qualification spot if they secure a win here today and would ruin United's chances of retaining their title this year.
As for the team news, Everton has been dealt a blow as they will miss key midfielder Tim Cahill for up to 3 weeks. The Australian was forced off with a calf injury during the Toffees' Europa League victory over Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday and now the Toffees will badly miss his services.
It was also revealed that that influential midfielder Marouane Fellaini will miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury. But the good news is John Heitinga is available after missing the Sporting tie through ineligibility and Steven Pienaar returns to Premier League duty after suspension.
Tony Hibbert (groin), Victor Anichebe (back) and loan signing Philippe Senderos (back) are still out and long-term absentee Phil Jagielka (knee) is also back in training.
For Manchester United, Serbian defender Nemanja Vidic will return to the side after suffering a nerve problem in a leg and has yet to play this year. But he is in line to start this match. However, Rio Ferdinand and Nani will both miss the crunch clash due to suspension.
Ferdinand is sitting out the last match of his four-match ban, while Nani begins his three-match domestic suspension for a straight red card against Aston Villa.
Also out will be Ryan Giggs who is recovering from a broken arm.
Take Manchester United to win this match.
Cheers and good luck,
