Second from bottom Peterborough enter this game with Leeds winless from 2 and with just 1 goal to their name. Ferguson did an excellent job last year keeping Posh up but after selling most of their best players in the summer they are up against it this year. On Saturday they have game against Leeds where a win will see them move out of the drop zone.
In their opening game Boro were soundly beaten at Leicester which was expected given the spending gulf between the two clubs. Posh dominated the first half of that game and will feel annoyed that they didn't create more clear cut chances. By the end of the game only 3 shots were made at goal which is surprising given how attacking the side is.
Midweek Posh went a goal up against Millwall but lost 2-1 at London Road. Once against Posh dominated the first half but this time they got a goal, unfortunately they conceded right before half time and never recovered. This time around they created 9 chances at goal which is more like them and up against Leeds at home on Saturday I expect to see familiar numbers.
A worry for Boro is that they haven't kept a clean sheet since the end of March which is some 8 games ago. However, the good news is last season they averaged just under 2 goals for at home and will certainly ask questions of Leeds.
Leeds
Can Neil Warnock do what he does best and get another side promoted into the Premiership? Well after 2 games his side sits in 15th place with a win and a defeat. Saturday's game at Posh is winnable given Leeds won at London 4-1 last season when in my opinion Posh were a stronger side.
Leeds have not been given the kindest two games to start with this year. They beat Wolves at home on the opening day thanks to a Becchio goal which was a great result given Wolves look a strong outfit this year. Warnock's side did very well this game to limit Wolves to just 1 attempt on target whilst registering 12 themselves at the Wolves goal.
I expected Leeds to go on and get something in their next game away at Blackpool. The side started well leading 1-0 at half time but then Blackpool dominated eventually winning 2-1. I say dominated because they had 20 attempts at goal and nearly 60% possession which is huge given that I rate Leeds above Blackpool.
The good news is at the weekend they should enjoy more spells with the ball than they did at Blackpool. Plus the added bonus that Boro seem to be really struggling defensively then Leeds definitely have a win pencilled in for this fixture.
Betting Verdict
Two attacking sides normally means goals and it's no surprise to see overs listed at odds on. At a best price of 1.77 we can't really get involved but I think it's a pretty safe bet.
In last year's two encounters Leeds won 4-1 at London Road and 3-2 at Elland Road. I think we will see a highs coring game but rather than take the 3.50 line I will take a team totals bet.
Leeds to score 2 or more seems a really nice bet here. AS mentioned above they did this twice last year and against a defensively poor side like Boro they should get plenty of chances on Saturday.
The 2.5 for a Leeds win looks big but they may need at least 3 to obtain that. I may be over selling Boro here but at home they are always good for goals so I'd rather take Leeds to score 2 and whether that's enough to win the game remains to be seen.
