PREVIEW
San Diego are on a 3 game winning streak but I feel they are going to be brought back down to earth by the Cardinals, who are off a loss and looking to bounce back. The Cards won 11 of their first 13 games this month so the loss is a blip for the team sporting the best record in the NL.
The Cardinals send out Adam Wainwright, who is 5-3 with a 2.51 ERA. Bear in mind, he has a 1.36ERA in 8 career games against San Diego, which is some seriously dominant pitching. This is a great spot to be betting on him because he is a bloody good pitcher who is coming off a loss (against the Mets) and looking to bounce back, with a great chance against a team he knows well how to pitch against.
The Padres counter with a righthander, Edinson Volquez. He has a losing record, going 3-4 with a 5.55ERA. His home form is pretty shabby, with a 4.91ERA and a 2-2 split and against the Cardinals he has a 5.32ERA through 8 meetings, with a 2-4 record. Bet against material.
BETTING VERDICT
Wainwright might have lost to the Mets giving up 4 runs, but he blanked the Colorado avalanche before that, giving up just 2 hits. Bet on him to keep San Diego quiet.
The Pick :
St. Louis Cardinals 4-2 San Diego Padres
BEST BETTING TIP :
St. Louis Cardinals to win @ 1.75 (Pinnacle)
