2007-12-30 - Manchester City vs Liverpool
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Manchester City who have lost their 100% record at home after it was ended by Blackburn Rovers when they could only managed a 2-2 draw in their last home match will be eager not to get beaten here as they hope to get back to winning ways like they did in their first 9 matches at home.
Liverpool on the other hand comes into this match with an unconvincing display that just got them to beat bottom place Derby 2-1 on Boxing Day. It will be an interesting match today that is for sure as Liverpool are the best side on the travels so far managing six wins in their last nine games and only one defeat in that run. They will come up against Sven Goran Eriksson's side who are still unbeaten at home this season.
The home side having kept the likes of Elano and Dietmar Hamann on the bench in the draw against Blackburn, will unleash the duo and for Hamann he will be up against the side he once played with before. Michael Johnson will play no part here as he is out with a groin injury.
As for Liverpool, they will have to work overtime to contain the threats coming from Martin Petrov and Elano as they are having a defensive crisis on their hands here. The Reds will not have the likes of Sami Hyypia, who limped off against Derby, while Daniel Agger is out with a foot injury.
This means that Jamie Carragher is likely to be linked up with youngster Jack Hobbs while Steve Finnan is likely to be in the side as well. Benitez will be hoping that Fernando Torres can find the mark here and he is likely to be lined up alongside Dirk Kuyt in attack.
I will go for Manchester City to get the draw and accept the ½ ball here.
Cheers and good luck,
