Fiorentina has been displaying a yo-yo performance in their last five matches and they cannot afford another slip up if they intend to play Champions League football next season. Fiorentina are only staying put in their fourth spot as A.C Milan are performing poorly themselves and have yet to overtake them.

However, now they face challenges from the likes of Udinese and Sampdoria as well. If they are to be serious in the European ambitions it is their home form that will get them as they have lost their last three away games in a row now. And in each defeat they suffered away, they managed to bounced back winning at home straight after that.

In their last match they were beaten away against Udinese when they went down 3-1. That allowed Udinese to come to within three points of them in the standings. In all honesty Fiorentina did miss the services of Adrian Mutu and Fabio Liverani who was suspended and they struggled without them. The good news for Cesare Prandelli' side is that these two players are back in the side so their only injury concern is Franco Semioli for this match. Their other absentee Alessandro Gamberini should return in the UEFA Cup clash with PSV Eindhoven on Thursday after missing out for the past two weeks with injury.

As for the visitors Reggina, their performance did improve after Nevio Orlandi took over from Renzo Ulivieri. They did beat Siena 4-0 and that was followed by draws against the likes of Livorno and Napoli. However their last match was a 2-0 defeat away against Genoa as they have been woeful on their travels this season. They are lying second from the bottom and with the good form of Cagliari at the moment, they find themselves two points away from four other teams all stuck on 29 points. The good news is that Milan [at the time of writing this are leading Cagliari by 2-0] so they will be hopeful of at least getting a draw here to limit the distance to just one point.

However their chances of a win is slim here as they have yet to win on their travels this season and have lost all five of their Serie A visits to Florence. In that period they conceded 13 goals and scored only four goals.

Reggina’s Coach Nevio Orlandi will be glad that he will have Emil Hallfredsson back in the side which means that the only absentees are Montiel and Modesto here. Franco Brienza will lead the attack and could be partnered by Francesco Cozza in support of Nicola Amorus. This leaves Stephen Makinwa to warm the bench. This will be Cozza first appearance since being out on March 19th against Livorno.

Last season Fiorentina won here by 3-0 and I would expect a similar performance here, so take Fiorentina and give the 1 ball for a 2-0 or 3-0 home win.
