Analysis:Lazio are making a strong finish as the season heads to a finish as they are coming into this match unbeaten in their last six matches and are displaying exactly the same kind of form which took them to third spot in the league last season.
Lazio had a poor start to the season when they only managed two wins in their first 12 matches and as a result they are some 18 points short to where they are at this stage last season. But no doubt with the arrival of striker Rolando Bianchi returning from Manchester City, as well as defender Stefan Radu in the January transfer market, they have been a changed side. Lazio at once managed to end their problems of finding the net as well as conceding too many goals at the back.
Coach Delio Rossi have used three players in attack which have seen them scored 14 of the 20 goals the team scored. Lazio can rely upon Tommaso Rocchi and Goran Pandev who both have scored 12 goals each to trouble the visiting Siena’s defence here.
Delio Rossi will once again persevere with Nestor Muslera the 21 year old goalkeeper who is being chased by Arsenal as well as Juventus in goal. Muslera was impressive against Parma while veteran Marco Ballotta did commit a poor goalkeeping error when these sides played each other back in December.
As for the visitors Siena, they are 8 points off the relegation zone and have lost just once in their last 10 games coming into this match. Last weekend they held Udinese to a 1-1 draw but should have won that game with the number of chances as well as possession they had in that match.
Coach Mario Beretta is optimistic his side can get a result against Lazio as they have kept three clean sheets going into this match. More importantly two of their last three away games have seen them deny the home team from scoring. They owe much of their good form to former Arsenal and Fiorentina goalkeeper Alex Manninger who was exceptional at the weekend and did brilliantly.
Siena will have former Middlesbrough striker Massimo Maccarone spearhead their attack in a bid to get the goals for this match. He has scored more than ten goals this season and will be hoping to get a call up to play for Italy in the Euro 2008 come June.
But I will still go for Lazio to get the win here and watch out for Goran Pandev who has exceeded his personal record for goals scored this season and will be aiming to improve on that in this match.
