Analysis:A.S Roma welcomes the visit of Torino to the Stadio Olimpico and both sides enter this match needing the points for different reasons. A.S Roma will need maximum points if they hope to catch leaders Inter Milan at the top while for Torino they are just four points away from relegation which means that they would need the points to move away from relegation as well.
A.S Roma are now six points away from Inter at the top after last weekend’s poor draw against Livorno at the bottom three. Luciano Spalletti’s side will be eager to win here after that draw and most of all avenge their defeat to the visitors here as they were beaten 0-1 last season.
But the home side will have to do without Captain Francesco Totti who is out injured. They will miss his services for the rest of the season after he suffered knee ligament damage last Saturday. Other than him, they are also missing players such as Matteo Ferrari and Adrian Pit. Spaletti could also decide to name a surprise lineup as Cicinho and Mauro Esposito may start ahead of Christian Panucci and Amantino Mancini in the starting eleven here.
The visitors Torino are boosted ahead of this match with the news that first-choice goalkeeper Matteo Sereni is available once again after missing their last two clashes. Simone Barone is also back in the side after missing two weeks out with injuries. However Captain Gianluca Comotto and fellow defenders Cesare Natali and Ivan Franceschini are still unavailable for this match due to injuries. Also missing are midfielders Davide Bottone and Eugenio Corini as they are suspended for this tie.
Coach Gianni De Biasi looks set to start with just one striker upfront in the form of Roberto Stellone. Alessandro Rosina will provide cover for him in midfield. De Biasi will not be looking forward to this trip to the Olimpico after in his last match of being reinstated, he was beaten by Inter Milan and now faces A.S Roma for company. They were beaten by Inter 1-0 so, De Biasi will be looking to shut their opponents out and knows that with just four points separating themselves and relegation, he cannot afford anymore slip ups.
The player to keep a close eye out will be A.S Roma’s Mirko Vucinic who has scored in his last three appearances.
