As an online poker player, you have probably heard about the legislation passed by the U.S. Congress over the last few years and more recent steps taken to prosecute 3 major US-facing online poker rooms.

FullTiltPoker.com, PokerStars.com and UltimateBet/Absolute Poker.

This is a taxation issue - ie the US government wants it's slice of the pie - not a "poker is illegal, immoral or whatever" issue and as such poker players from around the world consider that the American stance is fairly draconian - especially for the so called land of the free.

OK, so what does this mean?
Well, unfortunately from April 15th, Full Tilt Poker is no longer able to accept US residents as either real money or "play money" players. It has had it's assets relating to US play seized including the domain name FullTiltPoker.com.

We are not able to update you on the status of any money you held in any account at FullTiltPoker but do know that non US players are continuing to play and operate their accounts almost as usual. (The traffic is considerably reduced).

If you're looking for a poker room that is still accepting players from the USA, American based GoonersGuide.com readers are recommending Carbon Poker as their poker room of choice.
