Ayr Racecourse is Scotland's Premier Racecourse (the only Grade 1 track). It is located 81 miles from Edinburgh, 35 miles from Glasgow and 380 miles from London. Ayr Racecourse holds both National Hunt and Flat fixtures, staging year round racing.
HOW TO GET TO AYR RACECOURSE
By road: The upgraded A 77 links Ayr with Glasgow which is only 35 miles away and Edinburgh is a 90 mile drive.
By rail: There is a regular, reliable rail service from Ayr to all parts of the country and the station is less than five minutes by road from the course. (ScotRail)
By air: Prestwick International Airport is only 10 minutes from Ayr and offers flights to a variety of destinations including London, Cardiff, Bournemouth, Dublin and all over Europe. Many of these are special deal flights. (RyanAir). There is also a direct rail link from Ayr to Prestwick Airport.
By ferry: Ferries run from Troon - only a 15 minute drive away - to Belfast and there are also ferry links from Cairnryan and Stranraer to Ireland. (Stena Line)

THE AYR RACECOURSE
Flat: Left-handed oval course of 1 mile 4 furlongs in lenght with a staright run-in of 4 furlongs. The course is flat and has a straight 6 furlongs of 100 feet in width. Draw advantage - low numbers on straight course in big fields when soft. NH: Left-handed oval of 1 mile and 4 furlongs with a run-in of 210 yards. The track is well drained and the going seldom gets heavy.
