Match Analysis :
Manchester United make the trip to Aston Villa on Saturday knowing that they can close the gap to just one point before Chelsea play against Sunderland on Super Sunday.
Even though Houllier has a solid personal record against United,Aston Villa have won just one of the last 29 top-flight clashes against the Red Devils.
Villa go into the early kickoff on the back of their much needed 3-2 victory over Blackpool in midweek after it was their first win after six games. But United meanwhile could only managed a goalless draw against City whom were more defensive in front of goal.
That draw saw United dropped four points behind leaders Chelsea and their away form, despite being unbeaten, remains a concern with five draws from their six matches.
As for the team news ahead of this clash, Villa will be quite depleted as they will be missing up to eight first team players ahead of the clash.
Carlos Cuellar is definitely out with a calf injury suffered ahead of the midweek win over Blackpool, while fellow defender Habib Beye is also struggling after twisting his ankle in the warm-up of that game.
Stiliyan Petrov, Nigel Reo-Coker, John Carew, Emile Heskey, Steve Sidwell and Fabian Delph are out, but striker Gabriel Agbonlahor could come into the starting line-up after making his comeback from groin surgery after starting in midweek.
Ferguson also has injury concerns to contend with and may be forced to make two changes in defence with full-backs Patrice Evra and Rafael being casualties against City in midweek.
Rafael limped out of the action with a dead leg early in the second half so he definitely misses out while Evra was withdrawn due to an ankle problem and his condition will be looked upon before kickoff.
Wes Brown filled in at right-back at Eastlands with John O'Shea slotting in on the left and there is every likelihood they will start once again. Midfielder Paul Scholes sits out the match as he serves a one-match ban after receiving his fifth booking of the season against City.
Meanwhile, Owen Hargreaves (hamstring) and Antonio Valencia (broken leg) are long-term absentees. Wayne Rooney is in the United States recovering from an ankle problem while forward Michael Owen is out with a hamstring problem.
The Betting Verdict
Take Manchester United to win this match.
