2005-08-27 - Tottenham H vs Chelsea
A Sports Betting Pick by Gooner
Obviously the feature Premiership game on Saturday, as Tottenham seek to end an awful run of results against Chelsea at White Hart Lane.LAST WEEK
For Spurs, its been a great start to the season with a pair of 2-0 wins over Portsmouth (A) and then Middlesbro (H) before a more mundane 0-0 draw against Blackburn on Wednesday evening.
Still, Tottenham have 7 points in the bag, and are yet to concede a goal, as the side final start to deliver on the promising players in their squad.
Meanwhile Chelsea have looked ominously efficient in collecting points.
A last gasp 1-0 win over Wigan, was followed by a fortuitous shinned goal for Didier Drogba in a 1-0 victory over Arsenal.
However the Blues dispelled any doubts about their ability to play with more menace when they totalled dominated West Brom at Stamford Bridge in midweek scoring two goals in each half as they cruised to a 4-0 result.
HEAD TO HEAD
Just as Arsenal had dominated Chelsea (until last weekend), we've seen Chelsea hold a hoodoo over Spurs.
The Blues have not lost in a league match against Tottenham for 15 years now, and incredible run of 30 derby games without defeat.
Chelsea have won 3 of the last 4 league visits to the Lane, including a 2-0 success last season. The one exception was a 0-0 result in 2002 - and that might be a good pointer to this match.
GAME SITUATION
Both sides will be pleased with the start, and there will be a fair bit of confidence in both camps that the season is going to be a good one.
Chelsea are incredibly tough to score against of course, they've started this season like they ended last year, but it seems that Spurs are also in good form defensively too.
For years Arsenal have always found White Hart Lane a very tough place to go and claim a maximum from. Spurs fans always got their team ready for the Gooners.
It would be a very good thing for the Premier League if Spurs took their new confidence and produced a similar sort of determination against Chelsea here.
If they can, then I could see Tottenham halting the Chelsea juggernaut here, probably with a 0-0 result, but there is a possibility of a home win too and that result seems to have been way over-priced.
