After having suffered a 2-0 defeat away from home at Western Sydney Wanderers last time out in the A-League, Wednesday’s hosts, Brisbane Roar, will return to their Suncorp Stadium seeking a swift return to winning ways when they play host to Perth Glory.

Brisbane Roar had previously posted back-to-back wins in the Australian top flight with wins against Newcastle Jets 2-1 away from home and then registered a resounding 3-0 home win over the the league leaders, Melbourne City at Suncorp Stadium.

Brisbane Roar have been steady on home turf in recent weeks as the hosts have put together a solid looking run of seven league matches without defeat and includes an earlier 2-1 win over Western United, while the bigger picture shows that The Roar have lost just four of their last 21 matches at home.

In addition, Brisbane Roar are unbeaten in their last two meetings at home against Perth Glory and the hosts cannot afford another slip-up with the likes of Wellington Phoenix and Western Sydney Wanderers hot on their heels for a top six finish.

Perth Glory dropped down to 9th place in the A-League standings despite extending their unbeaten run to six matches when they held Wellington Phoenix to a 2-2 draw away from home.

Perth had previously put together an impressive four-match winning streak which consisted of victories over Melbourne Victory, Western United, Western Sydney Wanderers and Adelaide United respectively.

However, it should be noted that all four of these wins were recorded on home turf at their HBF Park where they’ve lost just three matches to date in this season’s A-League campaign, but results away from home have been far less convincing.

The Glory have been in name only, not in nature, as the visitors have failed to win any of their last seven matches on their travels, losing four of these games and also failing to score in four of these seven as well.

Indeed, Perth Glory have found league wins hard to come by in the A-League for some time as the Western Australian outfit have managed to pick up just four wins out of their last 19 games on the road and this upcoming trip to Brisbane could end in another defeat.
