Cyprus stumbled to a third defeat on the trot in Group 2 of their League C Nations League campaign when they were handed a heavy 3-0 loss away from home at Kosovo but the Cypriots now return to home soil for this upcoming relegation battle against Lithuania on Thursday evening.

Cyprus have managed to collect just one win from their opening four group games which came in a 1-0 win away from home at Thursday’s opponents, Lithuania, but defeats since then at the hands of Kosovo (home and away) and Romania mean this upcoming clash with Lithuania has become a relegation tussle.

The bigger picture shows Cyprus have registered just three wins within their previous 18 internationals overall, whilst also being handed no fewer than 13 losses within this period as well.

Lithuania head into this upcoming encounter at Neo GSP on the back of five defeats on the trot which includes losing all four of their games in Group 2 to date, slipping to losses at the hands of Cyprus, Romania (home and away) and Kosovo.

Interestingly, four out of Lithuania’s five defeats were actually inflicted upon Edgaras Jankauskas’s side on home soil and the one loss on the road was an understandable defeat in Romania.

Prior to these losses though, Lithuania had picked up home and away wins against Gibraltar to achieve promotion up to League C in the previous Nations League campaign, along with recording a 2-0 victory over Latvia in the Baltic Cup, so the visitors are capable of achieving better things.

In addition, Lithuania have picked up three wins in their last six outings on the road in all competitions which gives them a chance of getting something here.
