Despite being dealt a third defeat in four games last time out in the Spanish top flight following a 2-1 loss away from home at 2nd placed Real Madrid, Sunday evening’s hosts, Mallorca, still find themselves only one point adrift of the European spots in the La Liga table ahead of this upcoming encounter against lowly Getafe.

Additional recent losses at the hands of Barcelona and Girona have not been ideal but it is worth pointing out that all three losses were incurred on the road while results on home soil at their Estadi Mallorca Son Moix have been a lot steadier.

Indeed, Mallorca have suffered just a single defeat within their last seven home games and the hosts have also picked up useful wins against Las Palmas, Espanyol and Real Valladolid in the process as well.

Getafe slumped to a sixth defeat on the trot in the Spanish top flight in midweek after being dealt a disappointing 2-0 defeat at home to Athletic Bilbao which also resulted in the visitors dropping down the La Liga table to 15th place.

With just two games remaining of this season’s campaign and just five points above the relegation zone, Getafe know they must gain a result of some sort from the last two fixtures but this may be easier said than done ahead of this upcoming clash.

Getafe have lost their last three away games on the trot, slipping to defeats on the road at Espanyol, Rayo Vallecano and Valencia respectively and perhaps even more worrying for the visitors is the fact that they have also failed to score in each of these last three outings on the road.
