Real Sociedad dropped down the La Liga table to 12th place after a 1-0 loss at home to Celta Vigo which in turn makes it six games without a win for Imanol Alguacil’s side, having been handed four defeats and gaining points in just two draws.

Defeats at the hands of Mallorca, Alaves, Atletico Madrid and Celta Vigo respectively have thrown Real Sociedad’s hopes of achieving a European spot for next season almost out of the proverbial window but with two games remaining and five points between them and the top eight clubs, Real Sociedad still have an outside chance.

Results at home have been pretty patchy for Real Sociedad but not absolutely disastrous as the hosts have won six of their last 12 home games including notable wins against Barcelona, Villarreal and Real Betis.

Girona have managed to escape what looked like being possible relegation from the Spanish top tier thanks to picking up two wins in their last three games, courtesy of victories gained over the likes of Mallorca and Real Valladolid.

However, these two wins have been Girona’s only real highlights within their last 14 games overall and this recent sequence of results also include slipping to eight defeats in the process.

Four of these eight defeats for Girona were handed out to Míchel Sánchez’s side on their travels with losses incurred at Athletic Bilbao, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Osasuna respectively along with picking up just one win in their last eight outings on the road.
