Lazio extended their unbeaten run in the Italian top flight to eight games overall with a well-earned point in a 2-2 draw away from home at Inter Milan last weekend which has virtually guaranteed the hosts a place in Europe for next season but the hosts will need to make sure with a result at the Stadio Olimpico against lowly Lecce.

Within these eight unbeaten matches, Lazio have picked up important victories at the expense of Atalanta, Genoa and Empoli respectively, all of which were also registered away from home as well.

The wider picture shows Lazio have suffered just the single loss in their last 15 matches overall in Serie A which came in the form of a heavy 5-0 loss away at Bologna, while Marco Baroni’s side have been dealt just two defeats in their previous 23 home games in the domestic top flight.

Following a desperately needed 1-0 home win against Torino last weekend in Serie A, Sunday’s visitors Lecce now find themselves perched just above the relegation zone ahead of this final day of the season encounter against Lazio on Sunday evening.

Lecce are level on points with third from bottom club Empoli but the visitors possess an inferior goal difference so they too require a result of some sort at the Stadio Olimpico and hope Empoli and Venezia fail to beat their respective opposition of Verona and Juventus.

However, this may well be easier said than done as Lecce have managed to capture just this single victory within their last 14 matches overall in the domestic top flight which also includes being handed no fewer than eight defeats along the way.

In addition, Lecce have also failed to win any of their last six away games in Serie A which includes slipping to defeats at the likes of Fiorentina, Genoa and Juventus.
