Koln suffered their first defeat of the season last week, 3-1 to RB Leipzig. Prior to that, they beat Mainz and SC Freiburg, and drew against Wolfsburg away, so it’s an excellent start.

Koln was superior in their 2.Bundesliga campaign last season, and it seems they are not stopping in the Bundesliga as well. They were really impressive with their stable play and good control in most of their matches.

An incredible fact is that all of Koln’s last three Bundesliga matches ended with 4+ goals.

VfB Stuttgart

VfB Stuttgart are solid but not that convincing at the start of this season. They won twice and lost twice, with both their defeats coming away from home, against Union Berlin and SC Freiburg.

VfB Stuttgart also played a European game last Thursday evening, beating Spanish side Celta Vigo 2-1 at home, so some rotation is expected for this game. At least four players will likely get replaced in the line-up, including defender Finn Jeltsch, who got injured in the midweek game.

Interestingly, VfB Stuttgart is unbeaten in six straight duels against Koln, winning four times.

Koln is fresher and played really well in their three unbeaten (of four) Bundesliga games this season.

Koln demolished SC Freiburg 4-1 in their last home game, while VfB Stuttgart lost on both of their trips so far.
