Wolfsburg is winless in the Bundesliga since beating last-placed Heidenheim in the opening match. They played two draws and suffered three straight defeats since then, which puts a lot of pressure on them.

Their latest 3-1 defeat to Augsburg was also their third in a row, where they were down at half-time. Something must change, and hopefully, the international break helped them regroup.

Wolfsburg has no capacity for Europe, but they are decent for a mid-table placing. Still, nothing they showed so far supports backing them in this match.

At home, they are still winless. Draws against Mainz and Koln, and a defeat to RB Leipzig is what they did so far.

VfB Stuttgart

VfB Stuttgart are missing their two most important strikers, Ermedin Demirovic and Deniz Undav, yet they won all their last three Bundesliga matches against St.Pauli, Koln, and Heidenheim. They got very close to the top three, so we should expect them to keep going in the same manner on this trip.

Still, before beating Koln in their latest away game with 1-2, VfB Stuttgart lost both of their first two away games against Union Berlin and SC Freiburg, so they do not look that reliable yet.

Also, their recent record against Wolfsburg is not that good. VfB Stuttgart has beaten them just twice in the last six games, and failed to beat them in both of their most recent duels last season. A 2-2 draw and a 1-2 defeat was how they did back then.

The Betting Verdict

This game looks tricky to me. VfB Stuttgart have a better squad and are in better form, but there’s still something in them that prevents me from backing them at away stadiums.

Wolfsburg is under serious pressure, but they managed to remain unbeaten twice against VfB Stuttgart last season, and that could motivate them again, perhaps.

I would go with goals in this match. Five of the last six Bundesliga duels between the sides ended with 3+ goals, and I expect that to continue in this game as well.
