Preview

The technology may eventually determine whether Ty France's high ball was going to lead to a San Diego Padres Home Run or not, but the intervention of the American Family Field roof makes it all a moot point. Instead of perhaps tying the game, the ball ended up being another Out and the Milwaukee Brewers escaped with a narrow victory to take a 1-0 lead in this best of five Division Round Series.

One more game is to be hosted by the Brewers before an off day and the move to San Diego and it is another big one for two teams that believe they have the pitching capabilities to shut down the other.

That was clear in Game 1 and two pitchers who have had very strong 2026 seasons will be heading to the mound for Game 2 when one or two Hits, and perhaps another divine intervention, may end up proving to be the difference.

Milwaukee will hand the ball to Logan Henderson who is pitching in the post-season for the first time, but who has put together an 11-3 record and 2.47 ERA from the eighteen starts made in his second year in the Major League. This will be just the twenty-fourth overall start in the Big Leagues, but Logan Henderson has been a confident part of the starting rotation and the Brewers will have a lot of faith in his ability on the mound.

Logan Henderson produced a 5-1 record and 1.93 ERA in his last seven starts in the regular season, while he had eight starts in this ballpark in 2026 and finished with a 6-0 record and 1.84 ERA.

He did absorb the loss to the San Diego Padres when allowing three runs into the 7th Inning, but that was played on the road and Logan Henderson had done enough to give the bullpen and the Offensive players an opportunity to win.

The Padres will counter through Michael King who pitched 7 Innings and gave up a single Hit and three Walks in the Wild Card win over the Chicago Cubs. That follows a strong regular season where the 12-10 record does not paint a picture as to how well Michael King has pitched.

A 3.21 ERA is a better indicator, while that opening Playoff performance last week can only give Michael King a lot of confidence to take into this Game 2.

Michael King did conclude the regular season with a 2-1 record and 5.29 ERA from the final three starts made and all of those were on the road. Back in May, King pitched into the 6th Inning and allowed a single run against the Milwaukee Brewers in this ballpark, although he did not factor into the decision.

The Padres lost two of three games at the Milwaukee Brewers earlier this season, but had swept a home three game series before the narrow defeat in Game 1.

Prediction

There is a day off between Game 2 and Game 3 of this Divisional Round Series and that should mean all arms are available.

After dropping the opening game, San Diego Padres are under more pressure to try and level things up and avoid having to beat the Number 1 Seed three times in a row.

Michael King has given the Padres his best all season and in Game 1 of the Wild Card Round, but the last three road starts have to be a concern.

On the other side, Logan Henderson may not be as experienced as King, but his record at home this season means the Milwaukee Brewers will be playing with confidence and they may edge Game 2 much as they did Game 1 on Saturday.

However, the power of the bullpens may mean this is another closely contested game decided by a wacky bounce or one clutch Hit and so backing this game to finish below the total run line is the approach to take.
