Wolves
The exit from the FA Cup would have been a disappointment, but losing Matheus Cunha to suspension will have frustrated Vitor Pereira. There is no doubt that Cunha has become the talisman for Wolves and so losing him for three games, and potentially more, is a huge blow for the club in their battle to avoid relegation to the Championship.
The only positive for the manager and the club is that Wolves are 17th in the Premier League table and 5 points clear of the bottom three. Games are running down and so Wolves will be confident of finishing above Leicester City, Southampton and Ipswich Town, even if Wolves hold a poor 3-1-9 record at Molineux in the Premier League.
Wolves were beaten on Penalties last weekend at the Vitality Stadium in the FA Cup Fifth Round, while they have lost 6 of their last 8 games in the Premier League. However, they have won both exceptions in that run of games, while Wolves have lost 3 of their last 4 League games at home with the exception again being an important win.
Rodrigo Gomes is a doubt and Matheus Cunha begins his suspension.
Everton
Points keep ticking over for Everton under David Moyes and the attention will soon turn to moving into their new Stadium and preparing the squad for another season in the top flight. Credit has to be given to Moyes for helping Everton find the results to move away from the bottom three and a strong end to the season will give the fans something to hold onto when the new campaign kicks off in August.
They might be 16th in the Premier League table, but Everton are 15 points clear of the bottom three and many may feel they are already safe even if the side are not able to pick up another point. The Toffees have a 3-5-5 record away from home in the Premier League where Everton have scored 10 goals and conceded 17.
Everton were dumped out of the FA Cup in early February, but they are unbeaten in 7 Premier League games, although 3 of the last 4 have ended in draws. The side have lost 1 of their last 6 away Premier League games and Everton had won back to back away League games before the 1-1 draw at Brentford.
Abdoulaye Doucoure, Armando Broja and Dominic Calvert-Lewin will all be hoping to be available for selection.
Head to Head
Everton crushed Wolves 4-0 at Goodison Park earlier this season.
Wolves are unbeaten in 3 at home against Everton and have won twice in that run.
Prediction
In usual circumstances, 15th vs 16th in any Division would be a relegation clash, especially when that fixture is played in March.
However, Everton look comfortable right now and Wolves fans will believe a 5 point gap between themselves and the bottom three is a big advantage.
Both teams will head out onto the field on Saturday evening with some of the tension off of the shoulders of the players, although Wolves will be under more pressure if Ipswich Town have earned an upset win earlier in the day.
No matter what happens at Selhurst Park, it is going to be tough for Wolves without Matheus Cunha, who has proven to be the talisman and the main reason Wolves are not in the bottom three right now. His sending off last weekend leaves Wolves a little short in the final third and that makes it tough to believe in the home team.
Wolves do have a decent record against Everton at Molineux in recent seasons, but the latter are well rested and David Moyes may have some key players back in contention.
The FA Cup exit was a disappointment, but Everton have bounced back very well and their Premier League form has been strong. Defensively they are sound and Everton have produced enough in the final third to believe they can avoid a defeat in this fixture, especially when you factor in a draw would likely suit the home team.
David Moyes has guided his team to plenty of stronger results than that in his short time back in charge at Goodison Park and there is every chance he can earn another. The absence of Matheus Cunha may remove some of the Wolves bite and that could just give Everton the momentum to earn a positive result on Saturday evening.
