UEFA Conference League winners Chelsea will take on local MLS outfit Los Angeles FC at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta in their opening game in Group C of this FIFA Club World Cup campaign.
Chelsea will be chasing down a fourth win on the trot on Monday afternoon (local time) as The Blues secured back-to-back wins in the Premier League against the likes of Manchester United and Nottingham Forest which also resulted in the London club claiming a place in next season’s Champions League as well.
Enzo Maresca’s side then put the icing on the proverbial cake by claiming European honours by winning the Conference League final against Real Betis in comprehensive fashion, seeing off the Spanish outfit 4-1 in what was another one-sided final this season.
The bigger picture shows Chelsea have lost just once in their last nine games in all competitions, while four of these matches have also resulted in Over 2.5 goals being scored.
Los Angeles FC take a break from the domestic MLS schedule where they currently occupy 5th place in the Western Conference ladder and look well placed to achieve a place in the Finals Series, but the American side look to have their hands full in a Group C which comprises the likes of Chelsea and Brazilian side, Flamengo.
Nevertheless, the US-based side will bring a solid and impressive looking unbeaten run of 10 games in all competitions into this upcoming tussle in Group D against the English Premier League opponents.
Five wins and five draws will have coach Steven Cherundolo hopeful that his side can continue their unbeaten run against Chelsea while goals have certainly been a prominent feature as no fewer than nine out of these last 10 games have also resulted in Over 2.5 goals.
The Betting Verdict
Chelsea’s quality should come to the fore here against Los Angeles and we should expect a few goals as well.
