Group C is one of the tightest Groups in the Under 20 World Cup as we reach the final round robin games. All four teams have a chance to qualify for the Second Round in this final round of games and that means there is all to play for.
The favourites to come out of the Group before the tournament began were Colombia Under 20 and they are in the driving seat to not only do that, but to do it as the Group winners. They were surprisingly held to a 1-1 draw against Australia Under 20 in their opening game, but Colombia took control of the Group with a 1-0 win over the hosts Turkey Under 20 last time out.
While they are doing what is expected of them, El Salvador were expected to be one of the weaker teams in the tournament and not one on the brink of making it through to the Second Round. Everything went to expectation early on as El Salvador were crushed 3-0 by Turkey in their first game.
However, they rode their luck in their second game as they took the few opportunites that came their way while Australia showed a lack of composure in front of goal. El Salvador won that game 2-1, but will still likely need a point if they are to make it through to the Second Round as their goal difference is very poor thanks to the opening three goal loss.
It is a big ask for El Salvador in this game as they have to force the issue a lot more than their opponents. While Colombia will want to finish top of the Group, they can afford to play the waiting game a little more than El Salvador and they have the attacking talent to punish El Salvador when they do get into the final third.
Prediction
Colombia are the best team in this section and I do think El Salvador have had their day in the sun with their win over Australia in the last game.
If Colombia score early, El Salvador will be under pressure to take risks to get back into the game, and that could help the South Americans to get away and win this by a couple of goals.
